Nilesh was one of four artists involved in St+art India Foundation and Asian Paints’ Art Stations intervention at Arjangarh Metro Station in Delhi. Working alongside Singaporean artists Sam Lo and Soph O and Mexican artist Senkoe, Nilesh contributed to a visual exploration of India’s indigenous flora and fauna. The project used the station’s walls, stairways and facades to create an immersive sequence of birds, plants and wildlife, bringing references to Delhi’s natural environment into an everyday transit space. Nilesh’s practice was particularly suited to the project’s site-responsive approach, with his work described as responding to the historical and personal character of the structures and spaces he paints.
