Wall is Transparent
by M Pravat
M Pravat is a multimedia contemporary artist from India, known for his oil paintings, drawings, collages, and experimental installations that depict the theatricality of everyday life. His work reflects his philosophy of life as a continual process, using a visual and conceptual language influenced by his interests in engineering, science, and digital design. Pravat has exhibited in galleries across New Delhi, Mumbai, and Baroda, including Nature Morte and Latitude Twenty Eight, and received a Pro Helvetia artist residency in Switzerland in 2010.
His passion for architecture is evident in his exploration of space and the recurring motif of the ‘Jaali’ in his work. This feature, tied to Mughal architecture, serves as a symbol of layered meanings in public spaces. The jaali, allowing visibility and exchange between spaces while also defining them, is central to his installations, such as the painted metal cut-outs at Lodhi that create an illusory effect between public and private realms, enhancing the purpose of public art.
