Valley of Elements

by Vayeda Brothers, Mayur Vayeda,… Show more

The second edition of Craft to Contemporary St+art residency featured Warli artists Mayur and Tushar Vayeda, who are modernizing Warli art with contemporary themes and techniques. Originating from the Warli tribe in Maharashtra around 2500 BCE, this art form traditionally depicts tribal life, flora, and fauna.

At St+art Studio in Goa, the Vayeda Brothers experimented with new mediums while adhering to Warli's visual style. They integrated contemporary themes with traditional elements, culminating in a mural at Lodhi Art District that represents a significant evolution of this ancient art form.

The residency showcased their ability to blend traditional Warli artistry with global influences, maintaining its cultural essence while offering a modern perspective.
