Untitled: Munir Bukhari and Johnson Singh

by Munir Bukhaari

In 2019, St+art India transformed the façade of Bihar Government’s Vidyut Bhawan in Patna through a series of large-scale murals centred on energy, light and the relationship between people and nature. The intervention comprised four separate wall artworks, including works conceptualised by artist Johnson Singh and executed by Rajkot-based muralist Munir Bukhari. Drawing on Bihar’s visual and cultural context, Bukhari’s murals depict scenes of a woman switching on a light and an elderly man protecting a flame, using light as a central visual and symbolic element. The project was commissioned following an approach from Bihar’s power department, which had been inspired by the public art interventions of Lodhi Art District in Delhi.
