Untitled: H11235
by H11235
Nepali artist H11235's diptych mural tells the story of the fisherfolk community in relation to the
sea. The two primary elements of the work mirror one another — by building a sense of
symmetry, the artist portrays the interdependent and equal involvement of both men and
women, in running the fishing economy. The lives of the fisherfolk revolve around the sea as they
reap their harvest from it to earn a livelihood. H11235 layers the image further to tell their story by introducing in the background the sea, land, and winds — vital elements in this context. The waves in the background rise further and further, hinting at the rising sea levels that will undeniably affect the marine ecosystem and the people
who depend on it.
