Untitled: Daku 3
by Daku
As part of a Guerrilla Residency, artists experimented with the traditional essence of street art by taking over 10 abandoned shops in the area of Fontainhas.
Daku/डाकू is a pseudonymous graffiti artist breaking the visual pollution with deep cynicism and, at the same time, disruptive messages. He started off with the largest advertising firms of the country and picked up the marketing dynamics from his work experience. Daku’s work is truly street art as he experiments with form and medium.
His style is a result of his fascination with typography combined with his urge to make his graffiti legible to the public, to connect with a larger audience with his graffiti in English, Devanagari, and also Urdu. The artist engages socio-political scenarios to make his work visible in a true public art form so as to make people think.
Since then, his works have been showcased at venues such as the Centre Pompidou, the Venice Biennale and the Triennale Design Museum.
