Shakti

by Sajid Wajid Shaikh

Sajid Wajid Sheikh, a self-taught illustrator and graphic designer from Mumbai, India, began his career in advertising before developing his unique style of bold, surreal illustrations. Drawing inspiration from music, new media, and performance, he creates artwork that explores the human psyche. Over time, he has expanded his work into patterns, portraiture, and typography, collaborating with brands like Redbull, Kulture Shop, and Pepsi. Notably, he painted India’s first Hype Court in Mumbai in 2018 with the St+art India Foundation.

Sajid, along with Rajesh Bhadhreshwara and Mahesh Kamble, created a mural for the Lodhi Art District, celebrating womanhood by contemporising the Art Nouveau style. The piece, featuring women's portraits and natural elements, symbolizes women as life creators akin to Mother Nature. Its strategic location in front of N.P.CO-ED Senior Secondary School aims to resonate with women waiting for their children, promoting a positive message of identity and diversity to the students.
