by Eugene Soh
Eugene Soh, known as DUDE, is a Singaporean computer programmer turned artist. He studied Fine Arts in Interactive Media and gained fame in 2012 when his photo of Da Vinci’s Last Supper set in a local hawker center went viral. This work humorously commented on Singaporean life and launched his art career. Now a full-time artist, Soh focuses on Art and Technology, particularly Virtual and Augmented Reality. His humanistic work resonates with audiences, reflecting empathy for everyday challenges. He has participated in numerous group shows and hosted three solo exhibitions in Singapore. Soh spoofs Renaissance and classical paintings, maintaining a quirky style. His new piece, ‘Mars’, invites the public to experience the red planet via an Instagram filter. By scanning a QR code, viewers can engage with a virtual Mars, exploring the potential of ‘Street Art’ in a hyper-connected world.
