Letters for Lodhi

by Yok and Sheryo

Yok & Sheryo, an artistic duo from New York City, work with murals, 3D sculptures, and moving images. Their style is influenced by skateboarding graphics and pop illustrations, incorporating ancient artisan techniques with bold painting. Inspired by extensive travels, they blend old and contemporary elements. They've showcased at events like Miami Art Basel and Moniker Art Fair.

Drawing from vintage Indian matchbox visuals, they created a mural with cryptic messages reminiscent of Indian public service announcements. Often humorous, the mural features a character emerging from a portal, urging us to ‘Call (y)our Mom’, with a hand holding a phone to facilitate the call.

While in Lodhi, they discovered cultural treasures and used an arched passageway as a symbolic portal to ‘fortune’ and ‘health’. They also included slogans like ‘Justice’ and ‘Equality’ to encourage deeper understanding and application beyond mere words.
