Dream Futures / Ethirkaalak Kanavugal

Dream Futures / Ethirkaalak Kanavugal is a large-scale installation by Singapore-based artist Tina Fung and Indian artist Osheen Siva. Collaborating with St+art India Foundation and the Singapore Tourism Board, it explores cultural exchange through a utopian vision blending Tamilian and Singaporean elements, nature, and architecture.

Visitors enter through face-shaped silhouettes, symbolizing human connection. The interactive space encourages exploration and fosters togetherness. At its center is a well surrounded by arches inspired by Peranakan shophouses, inscribed with Tamil words for ‘community, nature, and imagination’—core values for collective futures.

Tamilian motifs like mudras and kolam unite with Peranakan tile patterns, blending tradition and innovation. The design reimagines the past for a shared, inclusive future, transforming utopia into an experiential journey that reflects on cultural intersections and a collaborative global future.
