Amma
by Blaise Joseph
A graduate of M.S.University Baroda, Indian artist Blaise Joseph is deeply committed to art education. He equates internal negativity with the modern crisis harming humanity and the cosmos. His work is influenced by grassroots realities in India, making him aware of the spirit's virtues, such as sensitivity and simplicity.
For his wall in Lodhi Colony, Blaise created a portrait of a mother figure representing Mother Nature, carrying memories of lost lands. In urban areas, cities are concrete jungles inhabited by migrants. This jungle symbolizes their mothers and the nature they left behind. The artwork's mother also represents displaced indigenous communities and is inspired by Blaise's own mother in Kerala.
